Great to join Piyush Goyal and Jonathan Reynolds MP last night to celebrate the landmark FTA between India and the UK. This agreement opens the way for more collaboration in the #Clean #Energy Sector. We look forward to building upon our successful partnership for low carbon hydrogen production with Shell in Bangalore and also with our strategic collaboration with Thermax Limited in India, following its recent inauguration of its Solid Oxide Electrolyser Cell (#SOEC) pilot facility in Pune. India has ambitious targets for green hydrogen for #steel and #ammonia production and represents a huge opportunity for both countries and is a key market for Ceres. Last week, our team were delighted to participate in #SOFCXIX in Stockholm, Sweden. Not only did our Chief Scientific Officer Subhasish Mukerjee receive the Subhash Singhal Award during the plenary session, Research Fellow Robert Leah and our Head of Modelling and Digitalisation, Harri K., also delivered lectures.    SOFC-XIX, organised by ECS - The Electrochemical Society Solid Oxide Division, is a key event bringing stakeholders together to demonstrate technical and commercial progress and discuss the future of the industry. 🌿 A day well spent at the CII International Business Conclave on Green Hydrogen this week! A well-curated agenda with some excellent speakers sharing insights on highly relevant and timely topics. It was also great to reconnect with our partner colleagues from Thermax and jointly represent our promising SOEC technology. 🔑 Key themes from the day: ✅ Global Green Hydrogen Partnerships & Export Potential for India Strategic international partnerships, off-take agreements, and trade policies — particularly with Europe and Asia — will be crucial to position India as a green hydrogen export hub. ✅ Green Hydrogen for Sustainability & Compliance With the EU accounting for ~25% of India’s steel exports, mechanisms like CBAM may drive a faster shift towards green hydrogen adoption to meet regulatory requirements and support low-carbon exports. Demand forecasting, price visibility, and cost pass-through mechanisms remain critical for an orderly transition. ✅ Aligning with International Certification Frameworks Discussions on evolving global certification norms, traceability, MRV mechanisms (Monitoring, Reporting & Verification), and mutual recognition agreements for ensuring India’s green hydrogen is globally compliant and export-ready. ✅ Transition Pathways for Traditional Sectors Substitution pathways in fertilizer and refinery sectors Blending of green hydrogen in natural gas streams Green hydrogen tenders floated for refineries under SIGHT scheme (42 ktpa capacity under BOO model) 👏 SECI’s first-of-its-kind #greenammonia tender (724 ktpa) to supply multiple fertilizer plants under cost-based competitive bidding It’s encouraging to see that conversations around green hydrogen are now becoming far more objective and action-oriented. While challenges around offtake, pricing, and certification remain, the industry’s collaborative mindset is crucial as we collectively work towards a sustainable hydrogen economy. Thanks to AVL for inviting Matt Barber, principal data product engineer at Ceres to deliver a keynote speech at the #HydrogenTechDay.    Matt spoke on 'The Digital Backbone of Hydrogen Tech' focusing on digital transformation. He reflected on the event "It was great to share with our peers what we have learned on our digitalisation journey so far, emphasising the power of data and how it is critical to success. We are delighted to congratulate our Chief Scientific Officer Subhasish Mukerjee on being awarded the 'High-Temperature Energy, Materials & Process Division Subhash Singhal Award' at ECS - The Electrochemical Society's 19th International Symposium on Solid Oxide Fuel Cells.    The award recognises the excellence and exceptional research contributions of distinguished researchers to the science and engineering of solid oxide fuel cells and electrolysers, materials, processes and manufacturing.    Subhasish has worked at Ceres for over 13 years and is responsible for all aspects of the core research and development programmes, and is also an honorary Visiting Professor at Imperial College London. This week marks a pivotal moment for the hydrogen sector as the European Commission unveils a comprehensive methodology for certifying low-carbon hydrogen and fuels. This initiative, part of the Hydrogen and Gas Market Directive, provides a clear regulatory framework that enhances investment certainty and supports the accelerated scale-up of clean hydrogen production across Europe. The proposal establishes a methodology for certifying low-carbon hydrogen production, setting a minimum emissions savings threshold of 70% to qualify for the EU label, offering much-needed clarity to the hydrogen sector.  At Ceres, we welcome this move as it provides the certainty that investors and industry stakeholders require to drive growth and innovation. As Commissioner Dan Jørgensen highlighted, hydrogen is poised to play a crucial role in the decarbonisation of our economy. This pragmatic outlook respects the diverse energy mix across EU countries and supports the development of a competitive and sustainable hydrogen market.
